At the magistrate's office in Richmond. Siyabonga is officially our son!!!

The kids with Auntie Janet and Warren.

Today was a perfect day...it was Siyabonga's official adoption day! We woke up early and spent the morning around the swimming pool. We then travelled up to Richmond, about an hour north of Hillcrest where we're staying. The drive was very scenic again with lush green hills, dooted with homes and primarily farm land. Richmond was a lot smaller than we expected, but they do have a court that facilitates the surrounding area. We met with a local magistrate, who finalized the adoption in about an hour. The whole process was very relaxed, and we felt at ease as we sat and chatted with the magistrate and Robyn as the paperwork was being finalized. This atmosphere allowed for us to appreciate and absorb the moment of Siyabonga officially becoming our son! Pop the champagne and get the cigars!!!

Before we left Richmond, we were fortunate to visit eSimphiwe, another children's orphanage. Although we didn't get a chance to meet with Daphne and Peter, as they were away, we did meet with Jackie, who showed us around and introduced us to some of the children and caregivers. Another great moment to see that there are people who genuinely care and who are making a difference.

The drive home was nice and relaxed as the kids engaged eachother in the back seat and Maddie shared her cereal with Siyabonga...he calls her "nana", which means sister in isiXhosa. Maddie is such a good big sister to him already and was stretched in her car seat holding his hand at one point. He is very observant and likes to imitate people around him, so when Maddie calls Lisa "mama", he looks to Lisa and repeats "mama" as well.

The day ended with a lovely dinner out with Janet and Warren & Sam. The kids loved the play area, especially Maddie who got to try out the trampoline and big kid slide with Auntie Janet and Warren. When she came back from the play area, she requested to sit on their side of the booth between them...she'll definitely have fond memories of Spur!
Well off to bed now as we have another early start to the day tomorrow. We're off to follow David as he competes in the annual Dusi (river rapids race)!!! Should be great fun and excitement!
